Merissa is a successful actress, singer, songwriter, and model, currently filming her second season of Disney’s “Penny on MARS”, in which she plays global popstar Bakia. She has also appeared in the feature film “He Who Dares: Downing St Siege”, the award-winning short film “Tube Poker” and Disney’s hit Italian show “Alex and Co”.  One of the songs she recorded for Disney, “Live It Up”, currently has just under 3m views on YouTube.

 Merissa grew up in rural Bedfordshire and was encouraged by her family to pursue her love of performing from an early age, attending classes at Sylvia Young’s acting school and the Guildhall’s Shakespeare summer school.  At fourteen, she was scouted by Select Model Management and appeared in a number of high profile commercial campaigns before deciding to pursue her true love of music.

EMI Records signed Merissa as part of Mr. Skillz & His Crazy Girls when she was nineteen.  Some years later, Universal offered her the chance to be part of classical group Forte and she also worked with Violent Records on a project to revive Alice Deejay.  As a songwriter, Merissa co-wrote Saint Etienne’s “Popular” with Rob Davis (“Can’t Get You Out of My Head” - Kylie).  She continues to write regularly and has also performed on stage and TV with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Chaka Khan, Leona Lewis, and Callum Scott.
